Jovovich-Hawk time is almost here!

jhawktarget

Close on the heels of their announcement of Isaac Mizrahi’s departure from Target, comes this great and long awaited collection from their Go International line. I know we have yet to see this in stores, so I can’t make any first hand comments, but from what we can see in the press release… I think this is the closest any Target guest designer has come to emulating their own actual collections. The details rock, the silhouettes mimic, everything’s just so spot on. Hats off to these ladies! They’re just upping the ante and making it harder for those to walk in their footsteps. I’m so excited to see it in store!

Target, I love you… yet you disappoint!

temp-dress.jpg

Fine, Temperley is cute. There’s no disputing it. But why oh God, why do refuse to properly stock the GO line? Each and every time you feature a new designer, I’m there on day one… waiting with bells on. This is the second time I’ve gone into a brick and mortar only to find that the collection isn’t on the floor on release day. Then there’s what always happens… you have two pieces of each item and they’re small and extra small. Maybe it wasn’t that way the moment your doors opened, but it is at 3:00! There’s no rhyme or reason to your restocking, and it’s seriously frustrating. Great… now I’ll have to pay for shipping just to get the dress I want. Bullocks!

Jovovich-Hawk takes on Target- yippee!

jv-photo.jpg

Models turned designers, Milla Jovovich and Carmen Hawk have spent the last few years impressing the hell out of me. Their designs are so totally gorgeous and exude sensuality. I’ll tell you why I really like them… they’ve taken their love for vintage inspired silhouettes and details and have modernized them, making them look fresh and hip and youthful. You know, there are some people out there with great style that daydream about starting their own line… but these two had the balls to do it. And for that, I’ll be eternally grateful. In all seriousness, I rank them right up with Chloe and Marc Jacobs. They belong to a genre of designers that know how to make women look demure and sexy at the same time while never compromising a certain sense of modesty.

A few weeks ago, I heard that they had signed on with our beloved Target to put out a GO line in the spring. Of course, I wasn’t blogging then. Also, Target hadn’t put it out in a press release yet, so I put it on the back burner. However, I just found this news clip from an LA Times article on Milla’s website that confirms it:

Target will be carrying a lower-priced capsule line of Jovovich-Hawk starting in Spring 2008. Milla will be shooting a TV commercial for the collection in Los Angeles this winter, which will be shown during the New York Mercedes Benz Fall ‘08 Fashion Week in February 2008. Milla: “Our Target line will have all our classic pieces: smock dresses, tunics, minis, all vintage-inspired, great prints. We took the things that sold the best for us but we’re doing it on a bigger scale. To be able to do it with a big company that can afford to do it for a good price so that real girls can afford it. That’s the reason we were interested.”

Needless to say, I’m aching with anticipation over this one- more so than with any other GO collection we’ve seen to date. Good things in store kids, literally! Woo hoo!

And below I’ve posted some photos of pieces from their holiday collection, just in case you aren’t familiar with the fantabulous goods they shill.

In regards to my previous post about the Libertine dress…

I saw it in person tonight. I had it in my hands, about to trek it on back to the dressing room, when it suddenly dawned on me that I wasn’t crazy about it. It looks the same as the one I already snagged, except for the fabric… and I’m not much of a purple person- regardless of coming trends. For some reason, it looked a bit different in pictures. The buttons were cute though- they were striped to match. I’m thinking that this might just have to be one of those things I might pick up on clearance once Temperley hits. Oh well. Life is full of disappointments… we should expect that fashion should be any different.

Finally, the dress is here!

Behold the ever coveted striped Libertine dress from Target. I was just in there yesterday, and didn’t see it- but it’s up for grabs on the website… so it’s just a matter of time. I swear, I’ll cry if this doesn’t work on me!

I bought that Libertine dress (and how I’d wear it)…

original-libertine-dress.jpg

The “other” one on the Target website. By other, I mean the one I didn’t want. You see, I really liked the black and white striped one but it’s not available for purchase yet, apparently. This is the one you see online. They also had it in my local store. I wasn’t very keen on it when I saw it in pictures… but in person it’s a whole other story. This dress is ADORABLE! The fabric is much cooler than you’d ever imagine, and the little rhinestone detail on the buttons is so very sweet. It’s very “pilgrim-ish” in nature, but that’s kind of what I like about it. It’s different. And it offers so many possibilities. Let’s examine!

The countdown is on!

I like to think that it’s part of my job to inspire mass chaos and anarchy. Not that I think I can even come close to doing so… but I can try!

Below are some of the press photos from Target, including price points for individual items. I have taken the liberty (yes, pun intended) in highlighting my favorite pieces.

Also, there’s a fun little video on the GO page that features designers Johnson Hartig and Cindy Greene, along with their comical interns. It’s kind of silly, kind of hokey, but it does its job- it completely psyches you up for Sunday! Click here to view it!

Jumpin for joy!

That’s what I’m doing, after seeing what’s next for GO for Target! Someone had told me that it was “Liberty”, and all I could think of was the company that made that fabric from the sixties and seventies that had recently been revived. It didn’t occur to me that maybe my ears were plugged, or that they were wrong… and it was actually Libertine! I love their stuff! It’s so Vivienne Westwood meets Chloe… or at least that’s my interpretation of it! I love their attention to detail and the dramatic graphics they employ.

Check out their Spring ready to wear show…

libertine-spring-07.jpg

I must give credit where credit is due, and tell you that I got this info from the Love Made Visible blog. They’re right on top of this Target thing, I swear! Here’s the photo they snagged of what’s to come. I love the bib front dress, and the green blouse, and the patterned shirt, and the…

Prices for these items are slated to run from $14.99-$39.99. I’m going to have to pick up yet another job to save up for this one. Yikes! Good thing I’ve got a couple of months yet.
